Elegance personified

Friday, July 6th, 2012

Clandon Park is often used as the setting for period drama and you can see why.
On a really wet Saturday at the end of April Natalie and Joseph had their beautiful wedding reception there.
Picture yourself in the tapestry room where photography is not normally allowed.
It’s such a romantic venue for Bride and Groom shots, and these two really look the part.

And now for that wedding I mentioned

Some people are just plain FUN!
This small set of pictures from Fay and Matt’s wedding shows you exactly the type of lovely, warm, hospitable people they are. It was a gorgeous day despite filthy wet weather and rather cold for May. It’s certainly different now!

What shall we do if it rains?

Saturday, May 26th, 2012

Chris and Rebecca had a particular favourite location in mind for their engagement shoot. When I arrived at 9.30 all was well, the sky was a little overcast – just perfect. Within ten minutes the sky was grey the wind had risen and there was the beginning of a drizzly rainfall.

Within another ten minutes the rain was steady and the visibility deteriorating.
Chris and Rebecca arrived on time at ten a.m. looking well wrapped up and with brave faces.
So we started off down the hill to get out of the worst of the wind.
Within about 5 minutes it was clear this would not be feasible, and that the models would have very wet hair – not an attractive look.

Fortunately we found a covered area for some attractive pictures in a tunnel while the rain continued to fall.

Then when it stopped out into the natural light for more pictures in the Castle grounds.
They were excellent models.

Gorgeous Bride

Friday, May 25th, 2012

The point of a engagement shoot is to have fun, and Fay exemplified this!

Bad weather forced us into the studio in early April. After days and days of glorious weather far too warm for March suddenly it was cold, gloomy and wet.
Nevertheless beautiful Fay and handsome Matt brought out the sunshine and fun in front of the camera, with her sunny personality and their happiness together in somewhat informal clothes. The wedding photography follows soon.

Different wedding photography

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

I’m always very interested in how people describe the wedding photography style they prefer.
Despite often saying that they only want informal pictures not posed shots and no groups, Brides then often find that a picture with Mum is essential (and why not!) and their family, his family, their girl friends, his stag do group and so on.
That means they do actually want group pictures after all.
Making these entertaining is so important to me! I can’t bear the stiff collections of people one used to see in old fashioned wedding photography.
So finding a way to undestand exactly what a Bride wants and then ensuring it’s delivered is key to successful imagery in my mind.
Some of my more informal wedding pictures are shown here, including flower girl melt down!

Now do you call this reportage or what?….

Seven questions you must ask before you book

Friday, October 21st, 2011

Choosing a wedding photographer isn’t easy. It can be bewildering!

You can go to a Wedding fair where there will be 4 or more photographers to pick from, often with very different styles, you can browse the web, you can ask your friends, look at the adverts in the local wedding guides, but finally you must meet the shortlist.

I really think you should ‘see the whites of their eyes!’

Decide if they will make your wedding day better or worse!

Loseley Park wedding

Friday, October 21st, 2011

On a glorious summer’s day this attractive couple celebrated their wedding at Loseley Park after the wedding ceremony at St Nicholas Church Compton.

The garden was at its finest, with the verbena beautifully matching the Bride’s choice of colours and the Groom’s cravat.

and the grapevine bursting with colour and small bunches of grapes already forming.

The beauty of the white garden with the fountain, and the herb and kitchen garden was a fabulous setting for their photographs.

Since both Bride and Groom are doctors the ‘medicinal plants’ section seemed to be a logical place for them to pose

South Lodge wedding

What an amazing dress the Bride wore at this beautiful wedding!
It certainly made the impression of the fairy tale Bride even more real than just her beautiful blonde looks and huge smile.

The grounds at South Lodge make for a wonderful setting for portraits of Bride and Groom
